Donation, Volunteer, and Scholarship Opportunities
Asayo’s Wish Foundation
“The Asayo’s Wish Foundation… built the Elizabeth Durante Clinic to provide primary care to over 1,000 patients from the local community. The clinic employs a local doctor, dentist, midwife and two nurses.”
Doctors Without Borders
From The Day: “Durante, a pre-med student and certified EMT, had hoped to become a surgeon and eventually travel with Doctors Without Borders, according to a profile of Durante on the Conn College Web site.
“‘I love the connection with other human beings that medicine offers. No matter where they grew up, how old they are, how rich or poor, a patient is a patient. They are human beings with human feelings and, more importantly, human needs,’ she wrote.”
Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club
Liz volunteered with the Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club during middle school and high school.
Covenant Shelter of New London
Children’s room dedicated to Liz Durante at New London’s Covenant Shelter, where she volunteered during college.
EMT Scholarship Fund at Connecticut College
“The Elizabeth Durante '10 EMT Scholarship Fund was created in memory of Liz to ensure that students had the means to obtain an education in emergency medical care.”
Award for Public Service at Connecticut College
“Offered by the psychology department in memory of Elizabeth Y. Durante ’10 to a student who has performed exceptional public service.”
Advancement Scholarship at Connecticut College
“The Advancement Office established a college scholarship in Liz’s name “meant to honor Elizabeth’s memory by supporting a student with financial need who exhibits a commitment and dedication to community or public service.”
